Shahristani and Barzani

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) prime minister Nechirvan Barzani and Iraq energy minister Hussain Shahristani yesterday reached an agreement in Baghdad that oil from the Kurdistan region will be exported through the Iraq State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), with revenues distributed according to the agreed annual budget share. The Iraqi government will decide on the oil price.

In the recent past KRG officials have spoken about exporting oil directly to Turkey. It is unclear whether this latest agreement will impact on the Turkey-KRG relationship.

Why should we go to Baghdad? Kurdistani oil belongs to Kurds, including most of Kirkuk.. How long for are they going to control our economy, politics, media, military???

Why Kurds do not stand on their own feet? When are we going to realize that its waste of time working/being with Baghdad?
