KT News:
Ashti Hawrami, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) minister for natural resources, told a press conference in Erbil today that, in defiance of the Iraq central government, the KRG will press ahead with building its own oil export pipeline to Turkey.
“We want to have an oil pipeline to ourselves,” announced Hawrami. “It is currently in the works and we will continue until it is completed”.
Crude oil from south Kurdistan was being exported to Turkey via a pipeline controlled by Baghdad but this stopped in December following a prolonged dispute over payments.
“The issue is that we are entitled to 17 percent of (Iraq’s) refined products, but the central government sends us only 3 percent and our refining capacity is not enough to satisfy domestic demand,” said Hawrami.

Maybe this will help in the negotiations between the Turkish Government and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party. To get Turkey to use Kurdish in education and media, and to legalize outlawed Kurdish political parties.
IRAQ/KURDISTAN – “The dispute with the Kurdistan Alliance, including payments for the oil companies operating in the Kurdistan region, has been resolved and agreed upon.”

Some sort of agreement between Erbil and Baghdad needs to take place since todays media is informing us that Turkey will not take any gas nor oil from an independent pipeline.
Please educate me! What does Turkey mean with this statement and prior statements of support for a pipeline?
