News and Comment by KT:
Yesterday, in the presence of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politicians, Kurdistan president Masud Barzani announced the establishment of a Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) National Security Council.
In his speech Barzani declared: ”We have paid a high price for the stability of Kurdistan and we want to continue on that path”.
The president’s son, Masrour Barzani, has been appointed chairman of the council. His deputy, Kasrao Gul, has been appointed from the PUK.
In recent months the opposition has objected to the big budget that is dedicated to national security.
This latest development confirms the intention of the Barzani clan to control all the important and highly sensitive posts in Kurdistan.
Barzani senior is president of Kurdistan. His son-in-law is KRG premier. And now his son is the head of national security.
The people of Kurdistan are asking: Where was our national security during the bombardment of our borders by Iran and Turkey? In reality there was no notable response to the latest Turkish aggression.
Observers believe the National Security Council is most likely to be used to repress internal opposition, as we have seen in Sulaymani and Erbil in recent months.

The same behaviors of the Baath, Qadhafi, Asad and Mubarak. Eventually they will go down the same fate as well. People may forget but they don’t forgive. Time us the ultimate judge.
Excellent , this is the icing on the cake , extra credit. National security council of Barzan tribe as they dop not reach PUK controlled territories and it is head is one of the immortal who have paid a high price for our stability . In kurdistan , there is no one else able enough to lead this service . The guy , Mr President ,is lunatic.
Just another example of an apparatus specially built for a person. The consequences would be more of the Budget allocated for an apparatus that will intensify the police state already existing.
