The Hague Declaration: Joint Diplomatic Committee of Kurdistan Political Groups

Freedom-loving Kurdish nation,

Political forces,

Families and relatives of the martyrs of Kurdistan,

In this crucial phase of our history in which the entire region of the Middle East and gulf states are suffering civil, ethnic, religious and regional war, with the big threat against the struggle of democratic forces, the Kurdish freedom-loving forces of diverse parts of Kurdistan, including the Kurdistan Regional Government and Rojava Kurdistan, have proved to be able to prevail the evil forces and source of hope in the region.

The Kurds have demonstrated they have the capability to protect and establish the democratisation process and respect human rights and civil liberties.

It has been clear to the whole world that countries like Iraq, Syria, Libya and Yemen are not in the position to fend off the threat of ISIS, but the Peshmerga forces of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), YPG-YPJ of Rojava and the guerrillas of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in collaboration with their allies are able to setback the Islamic terrorists of ISIS.

These victories against the terrorists of ISIS have created international support from western countries, sympathy, affection and support for Kurds, especially in Rojava.

Given the above mentioned strategic, military and political situation in the region, the Diplomatic Committee of Kurdish Groups, have held their 4th gathering in the capital of The Netherlands, The Hague, and agreed on the following points:

1. The general political situation,
2. Planning, developing diplomatic efforts focused on Europe.

All present parties expressed their views, and a comprehensive evaluation of the conference, concerning the political situation had been made, they concluded that despite the sensitivities, turmoil in the region and the denial of the history of Kurdistan, Kurds have succeeded in obtaining democracy, human rights and national achievement.

The gathering urges the parties to understand the phase and utilise all measures to reduce the internal disputes in order to obtain mutual trust and to try to hold a Kurdish National Conference on the disputed points. This means that the organisational committee of Kurdish National Conference should gather very soon to designate a date and place to hold the conference.

In regards to the second point of the gathering, planning and developing diplomatic efforts focused on Europe, the gathering welcomes the steps taken by the committee in the past year. The committee has received a positive response from the UK, Italy, Austria and the EU to the Kurdish question and to developing democracy in Kurdistan. The gathering believes diplomatic efforts could be extended, especially now that Kurdistan is at the forefront of the democratisation process in the region.

Finally, the gathering believes that the Kurdish nation and the freedom and equality supporters in Turkey welcome the democratic programme of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) to represent them at the Turkish parliament and call up on them to vote for HDP on 7 June 2015.

The strategy set up by HDP is in favour of all religious and ethnic minorities in Turkey.

Turkey is at a crucial crossroad – turning towards democracy for peoples in Turkey or backwards to a Turkish nationalist monopoly as it has been for the past century, which will damage the image of the country in the eyes the people living in Turkey, its democracy and its attempts to join the European Union.

Lastly, the gathering of the Kurdistan political groups at The Hague sympathises with the relatives of genocide on Armenians, Chaldeans and Assyrians. The gathering also remembers the 100th year of mass murder of the Armenians by The Ottoman Empire accompanied by the mercenary cavalry of Hamidiyes during WW1. The atrocities committed by the Ottoman Empire against the Armenians and Assyrians must be recognised by the Security Council of the United Nations as genocide and relatives and associates of this tragedy should be compensated.
