Kurdish film festival returns to Manchester

The Kurdish film festival returns to Manchester for its fifth year this month (Saturday 25 – Tuesday 28 June), bringing an exciting array of features and short films, including a number of UK premieres.

With stories about life, love, and war this year’s festival provides a selection of inspiring  films. These include the award-winning ‘Son of Babylon’, ‘Welcome’ – an ode to the immigrants trapped on the shores of Calais, and ‘Mando’ – a tale of refuge and rediscovery. Held at the Cornerhouse, the festival also offers the opportunity for you to meet a number of the filmmakers at Q&A sessions following the screenings.

If you would like to submit a review of any of these films to The Kurdistan Tribune, please email: contact@kurdistantribune.com

The festival is organised by Kurdish Creative Film Centre and funded by KRG UK Representative, Vision+Media, UK Film Council, Kurdsat TV and the Iraq Consulate in Manchester. In partnership with Cornerhouse, Zion Arts Centre, Lost Melody Music Group, CAN and KA.

This is brilliant, I’ve been to the last two Kurdish Film Festivals and they were brilliant — can’t wait for this one, too. Getting my girlfriend to come along will be another matter…
