Iran deports Kurdish students

News from The Kurdistan Tribune:

The Iranian regime has deported a group of Kurdish masters and PhD students. Saman Aziz, who was among the 34 students studying for a master’s degree at the Kurdistan University at Sine, told the local media: “On Wednesday 6 June, we were called upon to attend the local passport office at 07:00 am unexpectedly, we were under arrest for several hours, then put on a coach while accompanied by armed security guards and sent back to South Kurdistan via the Bashmakh port”.

Aziz went on to say: “All 34 of us have been studying there for almost nine months, we have paid all our fees and were halfway through our courses. We have left all our belongings at our student accommodations, and never expected to be deported in such a way”.

It has been reported that 18 students were deported while another 16 were refused entry when they tried to return to Iran after a short break.

Aziz believes the deportation is a direct result of poor relations with the Kurdistan Regional Government and, in particular, bad relations between the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Iranian regime.

Hussein Ahmed, another of the students, told local media: “The only explanation we have been given is that they have received orders from Iran’s ministry of high education to arrest and deport us.”

Obviously the reason is the alliance of Mr.Barzani with mainly Sunnite Al-Iraqiyah list and their plot to topple the goverbment of PM Mr Al_maliki, who is a close ally of Iran.i.e. Sunnite-Shiite conflict.Iran is showing its anger with Mr Barzani(and not PUK as is wrongly suggested in the above article).

Iran’s repatriation of Kurdish students is politically-motivated.

Every year, a large number of Kurdish asylum seekers are involuntarily deported back to Kurdistan against their own will where in most cases they end up behind bars, especially in Syria, Turkey and Iran. UNHCR must comprehend that these refugees have fled persecution, religious discrimination or are seeking safe heaven due to their political views.

KRG must exert pressure on numerous host countries to adopt Kurdish refugees and expedite reviewing their cases on humanitarian grounds.

Some 10,000 Kurdish refugees set off to Pakistan in the years between 1990-2003.
They stayed their for 10 prolonged years prior to being resettled in various host countries.

24 Kurdish refugee families are currently residing in Pakistan in anticipation of their fate.

Roughly 767 families are registered with UNHCR body based in Ankara whose destiny remains in limbo, as well.

Germany hosts the largest population of Kurdish asylum seekers. Some have lived there for more than 5 years without holding any valid documentations.

There is not adequate pressure on UNHCR.

It’s time for our Kurdish leaders to switch alliances. Let’s put hands with the Sunnis, forget our differences. Plus, I strongly believe Turkey can be a better ally for us than Iran. We need Turkey and they need us.

KRG can send these Mater and PHD students to Europe, US, Canda or Israel to pursue their education

Who will foot the huge bills come with this quasi education that generate mere teaching staff of which we have hordes. What contributions has university research , the main field of PhD people, in Kurdistan made to our society ? ……

    Baqi,
You don’t spare any chance to show your indirect loyalty to your Israeli masters do you? Keep mention peaceful Israel, Israel education, and other ways of bringing Israel into your conversations and articles about Kurdistan. I hope yor KIM is not another cover for regional Mossad operations aimed at influencing the future leadership of Kurdistan. Baqi Brzani, I think you are being managed by upper hands and it is obvious in your works and opinions.

    To Observer:

One of the awful habits we Kurds hold, especially it is a very common technique exploited by political parties In Kurdistan against opponents, is that in order to libel some one, we constantly level baseless, unsubstantiated, accusations against them, including trying to portray them as agents furthering others countries interests.

Pertaining to you remark that” I hope yor KIM is not another cover for regional Mossad operations aimed at influencing the future leadership of Kurdistan”.

I will resort to any power willing to fund and arm me and my organization and that supports my persistent cause
( Independence for S.Kurdistan). We have nothing to conceal.

I am extremely delighted that you brought this interesting point up. However, my question to you and I really hope you respond it honestly:

Who is supporting PUK, KDP,Goran and Islamic parties both before and now? Do you really believe they are nonindependent on some sort of foreign countries backing?

In the meanwhile, I assure that we will soon declare our leadership and activities.

If Barzani and Talabani sincerely subsidize us to promote our cause ( Independence for Iraqi Kurdistan), we will be grateful to them.

Maybe, you can convey our message to the political party you are affiliated with.

    Regards

    Mr Baqi,
First of all, I have no political affiliation whatsoever. If it were up to me, I would kick out every single political and religious party in Kurdistan and let the youth build a free Kurdistan. Regarding your comment about foreign hands behind the current parties, such as KDP, PUK, or Islamic parties: the reason we despise then is because of that foreign intervention. So when you justify your resort to outside influence as initial help and point to those current corrupted parties as justification, then you become just like them.

History has proven that any group with foreign hands never succeeded in the region. The fact that you didn’t clearly refute outside influence in your KIM initiation gives the indication you are guilty if that. And that is not something that speaks well for your credibility.

We can not isolate ourselves from the international community, nor are we at a stage to weather alone on our own.

    Kaka Baqi,
I read your above comments with a great deal of interest. You don’t want to isolate yourself from the international community, yet you are willing to cut ties with the neighboring ones? I believe Turkey and Iran are enemies but we have also long learned that we don’t have any friends other than the mountains.

What is best for the Kurds right now is to use their position in Iraq and along with the power of the natural resources to force other countries to make compromises. We need to stop trusting everyone out there, but also have to have enough confidence in our ability to handle our business by ourselves. The British screwed around with the Kurds by telling them the Ottoman Empire was not in their best interest, and so what did the the British do for the Kurds? We never learn from history and as soon as a tragedy comes our way we run to someone to help us.

    Mr. Aso,

You R right! I totally agree with you.
We are all aware of our history and all past betrayals against our people by certain regional and imperial powers.

Regarding having enough confidence in our ability to handle our business by ourselves and hinging on ourselves:

I wish It was the case and I sincerely hope we start working on that in earnest to make it happen.

    But Alas!
