The authorities of the Turkish government, council commission, prosecution office and the opposition parties have made contrasting statements regarding the article published by the Wall Street Journal about U.S. drones recording images before the Roboski massacre bombing.
” This news is not confirmed by Turkish and American authorities. There’s just a discussion about it”, said Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ. Head of the Uludere Sub-Commission, Justice and Development Party Sakarya Deputy, Ayhan Sefer Üstün said: “This is just speculation, it has no meaning for us. There’s no official information regarding the Predator images. The images already sent to sub-commission are also from Heron. There are 9 hours of continuous Heron images. The news just stated that the same images are also seen by Americans. There are no claims regarding U.S. intelligence”.
By contrast, Vice President and Spokesman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Birgül Ayman Güler declared: “Since the beginning, we claimed it was not ‘fate’, ‘destiny’ or ‘accident’ and we asked the source of the intelligence several times but we couldn’t get an answer. The answer came from U.S. The Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced it was a national intelligence. We consider this massacre as a political murder and the crime of the government”
‘What had happened after this intelligence was provided?’
Co-Chairman of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Selahattin Demirtaş told to Aslı Aydıntaşbaş from Milliyet:
“It was not a secret that the intelligence was provided from the U.S. Predator. What we learn new is, there’s Combined Intelligence Fusion Cell in Ankara”
“U.S is just providing intelligence. The government should find who turned this intelligence into an operation. What had happened after this intelligence provided?”
“Who was sitting on that table when those images were provided? There should be a senior person. The operation began within a chain of command. I guess that night they also asked the verbal approval of Prime Minister Erdoğan, that’s why no one investigates the details.”

BDP Mersin Deputy Ertuğrul Kürkçü talked to Fırat News Agency (ANF):
“The General Staff is hiding the facts. As much as determining the intelligence source, it’s also important to find who murdered these villagers . Now we understand that it’s not the failure of lower level military officials, the U.S and Turkish government authorities are responsible for that massacre.”

CHP Ankara Deputy Levent Gök made a statement to T24:
“Although the intelligence is provided from U.S predators, the target determination is made by Turkish authorities.
“We watched the Heron images. The General Staff informed us that the intelligence was provided by national sources. Now everything has become more complicated.”
