Revolution and re-thinking the concept of home and citizenship

Kurdish Exile Association (KEA):

The Kurdish Exile Association is organising a seminar for the Kurdish writer Mr. Aras Fatah on Saturday 9th July 2011. The talk attempts to analyse the complex relationships between revolution on one hand and home and citizenship on the other.

It is a reflection upon the changes that, in the context of the recent public protests in Iraqi Kurdistan, have affected the concepts of revolution and home. The seminar aims to address a number of essential questions such as:

  • Can we talk about a different conception of home in the midst of the new social protest sweeping Kurdistan?
  • Can we talk about home as a sphere of private life or of public domain?
  • Is home an arena for the accumulation of power in the guise of political parties or a country belonging to its citizens?
  • Is home a place which should be demolished through revolution and its internal joints dismantled in order to rebuild it anew?

The meeting will be held at 7:00pm on Saturday 9th July 2011.
The venue: Rivercourt Methodist Church, Kings Street, Hammersmith, London W6 9JT
Nearest underground station: Ravenscourt Park

All welcome
