The Kurdistan Region’s 2012 budget was passed by parliament this weekend. This followed a strong campaign by opposition parties who boycotted the vote in protest against the budget papers’ many irregularities and unjustifiable expenses for officials.

The opposition went on strike from parliament on Friday and Saturday, against a background of lively debates on the opposition TV channels and protest rallies against the corrupt budget called by the independent newspapers Lvinpress and Hawlati and others.

Six MPs from the two ruling parties joined the opposition by abstaining from the vote in parliament.

The level of public discontent with the Kurdistan Regional Government is probably at its highest point now since last spring’s uprising. On Thursday a big demonstration against the budget is expected to take place in Sulaymani.

The opposition has succeeded in educating the population about how the ruling parties manipulate the budget for their own benefit. In the past the rulers got away with this without much scrutiny but now the people are keen to hold them to account.

Unfortunately we have a very naive opposition, who in many ways is no better than the ruling parties in (Kurdistan), if any body watches the broadcasting of sessions of the so called parliament of Kurdistan province in Iraq, he will notice that the first row of seats are always empty, and only when (officials) of Kurdistan regional government come to parliament, they occupy the (prestigious) first row of seats, signifying that the ministers have a higher status than members of parliament, this bizzare phenomenon is unique to parliament of (Kurdistan), and guess who`s idea was to keep the first row for ministers, it was a suggestion by the Opposition forces in Kurdistan (Goran movement ans Islamic parties), what a strange and degrading suggestion that this opposition has made, which was of course rapidly accepted by the members of Parliament belonging to ruling parties KDP and PUK!!!.

‘The opposition parties’ are slaves of KDP and PUK. Opposition will be burnt alive should they pose any threat , e.g KDP burnt KIU HQ repeatedly .

The current political arrangement of 50/50 has nothing to do with democracy or anything near it at all. It is an obvious theft and robbery of nation wealth by criminals by any measures present themselves as politicians . But this was ( is) convenient to the americans.

Like Saddam , Masood and sons/family run half of kurdistan and Jalal and sons run the other half. Any party in Masood fiefdom should believe in his leadership and pay yearly visit to the ‘ immortals’ cemetery in the sacred village , similar practice for Jalal in his dunhill . They run their own militia and secret police in the baath style , and they have tamed these so called opposition parties which should be called something similar to ” national progressive front ” as they are ineffective and M&J clearly have no intention to give it up to anyone except their sons !

There is only one hope for our people: kurdish spring and REVOLUTION.
