KRG deploys 12,000 troops along the Iran border

According to a Rudaw special report, the KRG has deployed 12,000 troops along the Iran-KRG/Iraq border in response to the Iranian bombardment and border incursions and ongoing fighting between Kurdish guerrillas of the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) and the Iranian military.

Salah Dilmani, a high-ranking Peshmarga officer, told Rudaw:  “We will confront any forces that may attempt to cross the borders of Kurdistan”.

Two Kurds died and three were injured on Monday in four hours of Iranian shelling of the town of Sidkan, about 12 miles from the border.

The International Commission of the Red Cross (ICRC) says it has so far given humanitarian aid to 175 Iraqi Kurdish families.”Having left behind all their belongings, the majority of these people are now living under makeshift shelters, tents or sharing crowded houses with relatives or friends,” the ICRC said in a statement.

The US Embassy in Baghdad has given its first response to the border crisis.

US Embassy spokesman David J. Ranz told Rudaw, “We have seen a number of contradictory reports and we continue to watch the situation. Iraq is a sovereign country and we expect its neighbors including Iran to respect its sovereignty and integrity”.

Wake up KRG! Kurdistan is under attack again.Had you had proper plans, both Peshmarga admins would have been united by now, and countries like Iran would not dare vacation in Iraqi Kurdistan.

It is not too late. Start working on Kurdistan’s defense infrastructure.
