Kurdistan Tribune columnist Kamal Chomani has been shortlisted in the 2013 International Media Awards.

Kamal has been nominated for the Breakaway Award which “encourages new talent, in mainstream journalism as well as in the fields of internet news and citizen journalism”.

The International Media Awards is an annual awards ceremony held in London to celebrate high standards of Middle East journalism held by the International Council for Press and Broadcasting, a subsidiary body of the Next Century Foundation. The Awards acknowledge journalists and broadcasters who, through the consistently high standard of their work, promote better understanding of the people and politics of the world. Though certainly not limited to the region, the Awards have historically had a special focus on the Middle East and South Asia.

The 2013 awards will be made in May.

I believe ‘the Kurdistan Tribune’ will soon gain fame and international publication as you have a very clever journalist working and writing political reports about the Kurds

I have read several reports Kamal wrote and I found them to be well-written and the subject very well dealt with and the Independence of Kurdistan skilfully analysed.
