Iran’s new president Rohani dashes any hopes for Kurd autonomy

Iran’s newly-elected President Hassan Rohani has defied reality by telling the Voice of Iran news agency that Iran is “not a multi-ethnic state”.

“Iran is one nation and one region and we are all Muslim”, he announced, dashing any hopes that his new ‘moderate’ presidency will make concessions to Kurds and other oppressed minorities in Iran.

But this is no surprise because Rohani’s involvement in the massacre of Kurds in the 1980s is well-known.

No Iranian regime has been true friend of Kurds. Neither in the era of shah nor post Iranian revolution!

Komala, is the Kurdish branch of the Communist Party in Iran. It is outlawed, because of Sharia. It will be up to neighboring Turkey, to legalize the outlawed Kurdish political parties.
