Refugees from West Kurdistan; Photo – Shelter Box
Last night Kurdsat TV launched a high-profile campaign to raise more support for refugees from the west of Kurdistan. There are already 80,000 refugees in Duhok province, with around 500 more people crossing the border to join refugee camps every day.
We all know about the unbearable situation in Syria and Kurds in the south feel it is their duty to help their brothers and sisters from the west.
Ordinary people from cities and villages across the south of Kurdistan have been donating household materials, food and money to support the refugees. Kurdsat TV has set up call centres, hosted by celebrities and others, which people are calling to pledge their support. The response has already been overwhelming and this TV campaign is due to continue for another week.
