Sadi Ahmed Pira, a PUK politburo member, has told the SNN new agency that his supporters are under a lot of pressure in Erbil during the current parliamentary election campaign. He claimed that their posters are being destroyed everywhere and, moreover, that PUK campaigners are facing threats and intimidation from the authorities. “We tried to get help from the police and security forces but there isn’t any result”, he said.

This is not the first time in this campaign that a PUK leader has complained about harassment of their campaigners in Erbil, due to the KDP domination of that city. Arsalan Baiz, the leader of the Kurdistan parliament, has also voiced his concerns about this in an interview with the NRT TV channel.

When they are down they complain about foes not being professional, but PUK itself has had a very dark history when it comes to dealing with its competition and enemies. PUK is pretty much fried and they should thank KDP for keeping them alive the last 4 years. No one messed up the balance of power in Kurdistan like PUK did.
