KT News:
Kurdish fighters from the YPG (Committees for the Protection of the Kurdish People) have seized one of the main border crossing points between Syria and Iraq from jihadist forces.
The Yarubiya border post was captured after three days of fierce fighting with al-Qaeda linked groups.
An Iraqi official told the Associated Press that the Baghdad government had sent Iraqi reinforcements to prevent the violence spilling across the border.
He said the fighting involved “heavy battles in which all types of weapons were used”.
This is a significant victory for the YPG in resisting fundamentalists who have declared a fatwa against Kurds.
