5 Kurds among dozens killed in Syrian protests

According to the Kurdish Youth Gathering in the Damascus Co-ordinating Committee, at least five Kurds were killed by Syrian security forces yesterday, and dozens were wounded including women and the elderly. Electricity was cut, roads were blocked and homes were raided in assaults by security patrols after the massive demonstrations that took place in Damascus on ‘Prisoners of Freedom’ day.

As night fell, security forces began to invade the neighbourhood Kikiya in Rakn al-Din.

The names of the known Kurdish martyrs are:

  • Naim Mohammed Bandi
  • Omar Abdul-Jabbar Ismail
  • Ghazwan Alserawan
  • Zardasht Wanley
  • Soro Afrini

Several sources report that 41 people were killed across Syria yesterday.
