In a show of solidarity, the co-chairs of the DTK (Democratic Society Congress) and the BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) are travelling from Turkey to Kobane in Rojava/Syria to offer their condolences to the family of Shervan Muslim, son of PYD (Democratic Union Party) co-chair Salih Muslim Mohamed.

Shervan was killed on Wednesday during clashes between the Kurdish YPG (People’s Defense Units) and the al-Qaeda linked State of Iraq and Levant (ISIS).

His death highlights the fact that Kurds are on the frontline of opposition to al Qaeda in the region, especially in Syria, but also in Iraq, following the recent bombing in Erbil for which the ISIS has claimed responsibility.
