Rojava Kurds face severe problems trying to cross their borders, not only from Turkish troops but also – at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) border – from Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) peshmarga, reports ANF.

From the Turkish border there are accounts of severe beatings and robberies perpetrated by troops against Kurds trying to cross into north Kurdistan. But the story from the border between Rojava and south Kurdistan is more shocking.  It is said that, at about midnight yesterday,  32 year-old Mevlit Nezir Heci Yunis was shot and killed while attempting to cross the border. Yunis was from the village of Zihiri in the Berav region of Dêrik and is reported to have been married.

This incident follows on from recent moves by KDP troops to build a border ditch between Rojava and south Kurdistan.
