Turkey is preparing itself for new local election. Turkey’s ruling party, AKP, is working hard to gain more votes in the Kurdish areas and using the peace process as a basis for its bid to win Kurds’ support. AKP officials have tried to fight its major rival in the Kurdish area, the BDP, through inviting Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officials, specifically Nechirvan Barzani. BDP candidate for the city of Wan, Unor Yughit, has said that AKP is trying to use Barzani for its election campaign against the main Kurdish party, the BDP. Unor has also said that, in his recent visits to Wan, Nechirvan Barzani didn’t visit the city’s mayor who is a BDP candidate, however he campaigned for the AKP and urged Kurdish people to support the AKP.
