KRG representative looks to the UN

News and Comment by The Kurdistan Tribune:

Dindar Barzani, the KRG representative for foreign relationships, has asked the UN to mediate between Baghdad and Erbil over unresolved items such as oil and the disputed territories.

Dindar Barzani told Radio Sawa that the UN has a big role to play in Iraq, including in the city of Mosul in bringing together rival groups such as Hadbah and Nineveh.

However, he does not seem to realise that the UN is the most bureaucratic organisation in the world, now famous for its passivity in the face of several global crises. To take the example of Syria, there needs to be an analysis as to why an organisation of the UN’s magnitude can do nothing to check the killing machine of Bashar Assad’s regime.
