News and Comment by The Kurdistan Tribune:
Kurdish people’s perception of politicians is at a low ebb. This is because politicians have for years promised so much but delivered so little. Some, such as Talabani and Barzani, have enjoyed power since the 1960s.
However, for the first time in the history of Kurdish party leaders, the KIU leader, Salahaddin Bahauddin, has decided to stand down. He is not nominating himself for the leadership of his party at its next general congress. It is to his credit that, instead of clinging to power, he is prepared to make way for fresh blood. Salahaddin Bahauddin has set a good example for other leaders to follow.

Talabani and Barzani ???
Why the author fails to cite Naushirvan Mustafa’s name, as well?
Newshirwan Mustafa is the general coordinator until conference, when elected and held office for more than one term, then he should be named as well. But, Ali Bapir and Mohammed Haji Mahmod should have been included.
This is a positive step that is to be commended. Will this put pressure on the rest of the leaders to take example, or will they keep walking towards the wall of power shame?
