Rahmatolah Maadi, the father of a newborn baby, a hardworking and peaceful man, was arrested by Iranian intelligence (Etelaat) on November 4th 2012 and there has been no news from him since.

Rahmatolah was born on 25th February, 1969 in Saqaz, Kurdistan, Iran and he was raised and studied in Sannandaj. He migrated to Iraqi Kurdistan about two years ago to do business importing health supplements and natural skin care products  (under name of ‘Aramina’, www.aramina.co) from Canada through his brother. He managed two locations, one in Erbil and one in Sulaymaniyah.

Rahmat and his friend Behroz Ghobadi share a store in Sulaymaniyah and they decided to travel to Georgia in order to expand his business there. On 4th of November, when they planned to fly from Tehran to Georgia, they were stopped and taken to custody just 12 kilometers away from Sannandaj by Iranian Intelligence and returned to Sannandaj and after a few weeks transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran, Iran. Behroz Ghobadi (the brother of a famous film maker) was freed after two months.

Rahmat Maadi is not affiliated with any political group and has not been involved in any political activities. He is the most peaceful of men. He has an 82 year old mother, a sister recently diagnosed with cancer, a desperate wife and a newborn baby.

Rahmat Maadi has a good reputation among business people in Iraqi Kurdistan. He is known for his honesty and good relationships in Sulaymaniyah.

The family needs international help to free this innocent man.
