Erbil delivers letter to Baghdad calling for resolution of disputes

Kurdistan parliament

KT News:

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has delivered what is described as a ‘final’ letter to the Iraqi government of Nuri al Maliki, asking it to resolve the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.

The KRG has set up in a special committee in Erbil, comprising members of the two ruling parties and a few opposition party representatives, to deal with the crisis.

Today an MP from the KDP list hand-delivered the letter to the Maliki administration, asking Baghdad to resolve the issues of Article 140, payments to foreign oil companies and the disputed areas.

The KRG is awaiting a response which it says will determine the basis of its future dealings with Baghdad.
