Kalar building site
Hasan Ramazan was an 18 year old construction worker. Yesterday he fell to his death when his escalator collapsed while he was working on an electricity pylon on a building site in the town of Kalar.
He was the 83rd person to die this year on building sites in the region of Kurdistan. During the current construction boom, the death toll has gone up sharply.
The syndicate of construction workers in Kurdistan and their branch in the city of Suli have asked the authorities to act to ensure better safety at work and called for a committee to be set up to investigate the company that employed Hasan Ramazan.
