BDP envoys taking Ocalan’s message to PKK army council

Ocalan believed to have called for PKK ceasefire

Ocalan is believed to have called for PKK ceasefire

A BDP delegation arrived in Suli yesterday, carrying a message from the jailed PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The delegation, which includes BDP co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Gültan Kışanak and Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chairs Ahmet Türk and Aysel Tuğluk, is due to meet the PKK army council based in the Qandil. Ocalan’s message is understood to include a call for a PKK ceasefire, beginning at Newroz (21 March).

We in the south of Kurdistan have experienced all kinds of peace talks, many of them fraudulent.  Unfortunately the Turkish state’s intentions towards the south of Kurdistan and the north cannot be assumed to be good, especially when their ‘peace initiative’ is accompanied by a continued bombardment of south Kurdistan.
