Lvinpress has issued a statement on the fifth anniversary of the murder in Kirkuk of its young journalist, Soran Mama Hama.

Soran was shot dead outside his home on July 22 2008. His murder followed the threatening messages he received after writing for Lvinpress about official corruption, including an article about a prostitution ring allegedly controlled by local police and security officials.

The Lvinpress statement lambasts the south of Kurdistan authorities: “One more year has passed without any result in his case and the murderers are still at large and the Kurdish authority, which is claiming to be for democracy and human rights, is the same authority giving ammunition to so many other murderers”.
