Rojava youth come onto the streets

The Charter of the Social Contract of Rojava may lately have been augmented and extended, but meanwhile the food imports for its population are shrinking. Since its revolution in 2011, Mr Erdogan has closed all border crossings – imports via these into Rojava being restricted to a steady flow of IS members –, whereas his ally Mr Barzani of the KRG still seems to be refusing to reopen the very last Semalka border crossing. The present, disturbing situation of depriving people of their basic food is comparable now with that in Aleppo, where for its civilian inhabitants Mr Assad follows, apart from warfare, the same method against them: when weapons are failing to win a war, just use starvation.
In the Netherlands the Altruism Foundation has supported the inhabitants of Rojava during the last 5 years in material, medical and educational aid missions, but without access to Rojava anymore must then the alternative be to import Rojava’s social system into the Netherlands? For its present government appears to follow a foreign policy of looking away as far as possible from Kurdish and other minorities’ interests in Rojava. Instead of a powerless cry for another revolution, this tiny article is just a practical proposal to found in each Western country and in Israel a NGO under the name Support Rojava Foundation which in its own country helps out for the moment the too many refugees whose roots lie in Rojava and who all just want to return to their beloved homeland – some nicer day…
