After IS, Syria and Iraq

By Dr. Jan Best de Vries:rojava-map

What the month October 2014 has taught us is that, in the future, the three cantons of autonomous Rojava should not look for military or political support from or cooperation with their geographical neighbor Turkey. However, it is not unthinkable that (like the autonomous Kurds in North Iraq) they may preserve their democratic state structure in North Syria.

For, after the disappearance of the barbarian caliphate run by al-Baghdadi and the no less barbarian Syrian regime headed by Assad, the Kurds living in Aleppo’s northern district Sheikh Maksud, who have joined their forces with those of the FSA in Aleppo, might plead for the foundation of a northern, democratic state of Aleppo, containing the present-day province of Aleppo and the coastal stretch south of Turkey, like of old, when Alalakh, now lying within Turkey, and Aleppo formed one state under Yarimlim between 1700 and 1650 BCE.

The implication of a geographical extension of the present province of Aleppo is that the Kurds in both the towards-the-West orientated city of Aleppo and in Rojava when extended in length and depth along the border with Turkey  — nowadays a territorial ambition of Mr. Erdogan — would have access to both an international airport and to the Mediterranean. Thus Rojava would have as stable allies the democratically governed states of Aleppo in the South and, in former Iraq, Kurdistan in the East.

Kurds are beginning to forget about their independence. Don’t deviat from your main goal. At least , Kurdish president in North of should declare it. Kurds may not be able to get all their lands for now.

A message to President Barrack Obama: You promised Kurdish nation independence. Any news on the status of petition submitted. You are requested to consider the facts that Kurds reserve the right to determine their own destiny and war-torn Iraq will always remain chaotic. There is no another solution and Kurds are fed-up with the status quo. Please listen to Kurdish voices and views. Very regretfull, I personally do not see any changes in South Kurdistan interns if real democracy, corruption, economic justice.
