The Turkish air force has mounted heavy attacks on PKK bases in the Qandil mountains.  According to AFP, 16 F-16 fighter jets have bombed 50 locations and they were targeting the PKK leadership. The Firat news agency claims that seven PKK fighters have been killed. This attack is on the eve of the mass funeral ceremony due to be held tomorrow in Dyarbakir, north Kurdistan, for the three women activists who were shot dead in Paris last week.

Following the ceremony the women will be buried in their home towns on Friday.

Thousands of Kurds gathered peacefully outside Diyarbakir airport today chanting slogans such as “Martyrs are immortal!”, “Kurdistan will be a grave for fascism!” and “Long live leader Apo!” as vans carrying the coffins draped in green cloth drove slowly through the crowd.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that state security forces will be on alert during the ceremonies in case of “any kind of provocation”.

However, Diyarbakir mayor Osman Baydemir dismissed this, telling reporters: “The people of Diyarbakir know very well how to mourn and how to claim their dead”.

The actions of Turkish state does not conform with its alleged intention of solving the Kurdish issue in Turkey. There should be no doubts in anybody`s mind that the Turkish government is after the heads of the Kurdish resistance leadership in North Kurdistan , Qandil and Diaspora. Only a naive person would doubt that the dirty hands of Turkish government were behind the brutal executions of the 3 female Kurdish activsts in the heart of Paris.
These new wave of attacks against alleged PKK bases in Qandil( with the help of American intelligence information gathered by reconaissance American Drones no doubt!).
The aim of the Turkish govenment with these negotiations appears to be to expose the prominent figures in PKK and to eliminate them.
What is even more disgraceful is that Kurdish administration in South Kurdistan (North Iraq), still allows 3 military bases of Turkish army there to continue their violations of Kurdish territories and also the lack of any protests over continueing daily aerial bombardments of Kurdish villages and hamlets down the Qandil mountains and sometimes deep into South Kurdistan territories.
How could anyone have any respect for Kurdish nation for turning a blind eye to those daily Turkish violations of our sovereignty.
Until now there seems to be no concrete steps taken by Turkish government to show that they recognize that Kurds make the second largest nation in Turkey after Turks and acknowledge their rights of self-administration and cultural rights which must be anchored in the Turkish constitution and stoping this bloody conflict at once.
The Issue in North Kurdistan (Southeast Turkey) is not a terror issue as the Turks like to call it, but rather the issue of an oppressed nation fighting for its basic human rights.
