Erdogan and Barzani
Masoud Barzani’s visit to Amed (Diyarbekir) on November 16th, 2013 needs a serious review.
First: The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) tallied 38 seats during the last elections of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in September 2013. The president’s term is expired and he doesn’t represent all the Kurds. He wasn’t even escorted by his deputy; therefore, he is more or less a party leader. He appears not as a colorful and popular leader.
Second: Erdogan has found a (Kurdish) leader who is not a threat to Turkey and intends to divide the Kurdish community in the Northern Kurdistan (Turkey), just as he is seeking to divide the Kurds in Rojava (Syria) through the KDP.
Third: This visit is more about economic interests – not political interests. Meanwhile, the Turkish press is talking about the hydrocarbon resources in South Kurdistan that will be uncovered by Turkish oil companies.
Fourth: Erdogan is trying to support Barzani because he is against the self-rule in Rojava which was declared by the Kurdish authorities there, namely the Kurdish Democratic Union (PYD).
Fifth: Erodgan realizes that the Kurds in the South of Kurdistan, Rojava, and even in the North of Kurdistan constitute fait accompli powers. He wants to have a proxy ally amongst the Kurdish people.
Sixth: The most indispensable Kurdish leader at present is Abdullah Ocalan, who is serving a life sentence, and the failure of Erdogan and Barzani to mention him during their speeches shows that they have hidden and unhealthy intentions.
Seventh: Barzani appeared as a tribal leader. Erdogan was accompanied by his deputy, but Barzani was alone. In addition, Erdogan was accompanied by his wife, but Barzani was alone. This loneliness of Barzani shows the face of Kurdistan that has a totalitarian leader, and his appearance without his wife shows that he is a tribal leader.
Eighth: Only the KDP media covered the visit, which shows that Barzani isn’t truly representing all of us. The PUK representative in Ankara was not invited to the ceremony, which means that the Kurds in Iraqi Kurdistan do not attach any importance to this visit and are suspicious of it, as with other foreign visits of Barzani that center on his family economic interests.
Ninth: The decline in the AKP vote in the Kurdish areas has caused Erdogan to be worried about the next local elections. He used Barzani to promote himself to Kurds, yet it is a failed game.

Tenth: There was no presidential elections. He was brought back to power by Washington and Mr. Nobama, Gobama and GOObaman.
And no criticism of PKK again, typical Gorran! Gorran allied to Iran-PKK-Maliki! While KDP works with Turkey. What’s the difference.
First, during their speeches Barzani made explicit reference to Ocalan, and even thanked him for agreeing to a truce between Turkish authorities and rebel fighters.
Second, Kurds have long been divided and there isn’t a single group of Kurds that is considered ‘legitimate’ by all Kurds.
Third, this is the last of Erdogan as Prime Minister. He doesn’t necessarily need to support of anyone as he will not be able to run as a PM for Turkey.
What you want is a State of Kurdistan. Any party, organization, or entity which aims to have some sort of negotiations that is not specifically discussing self-determination is treason.
